Home Comfort Air Services was started in Silver Spring in 2014 by Yosef, who had spent years in the field as a service technician before putting his own name on the truck. It is still family owned and operated.
Yosef started out as a service technician, which is a useful thing to know about a company owner. It means the person running this business has been in the crawlspace, has been on the roof in August, and has had the conversation where a homeowner is told their heat exchanger is cracked two weeks before Christmas.
It also means he saw how the trade often works from the inside. Technicians paid on commission. Diagnoses that always seem to end in a replacement quote. Companies that answer the phone quickly when they are selling you something and slowly when you need warranty work. He started Home Comfort Air Services in 2014 to run it the other way.
The company today does residential and light commercial heating and cooling across Montgomery and Prince George's County, Maryland. We repair what has broken, replace what has reached the end, and install new equipment. That covers central air conditioning, gas and electric furnaces, heat pumps, boilers, and water heaters including tankless. We also keep systems maintained under a service agreement and handle indoor air quality work: filtration, humidifiers, UV coil lights and carbon monoxide detection. Emergency service runs 24 hours, because a furnace that quits does not wait for business hours.
We are Better Business Bureau accredited with an A+ rating, NATE certified, and a member of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America. We are a Carrier authorized dealer, Top Rated on HomeAdvisor, and rated five stars on Yelp and Angi. We participate in the BGE and Pepco residential rebate programs, and we handle that paperwork for you rather than handing you a form.

Those two words show up on a lot of contractor websites. Here is what they translate to on an actual service call:
- We diagnose before we quote. The system gets tested, not glanced at. You find out what is actually failing.
- We say when a repair is the better call. If your equipment has years left, replacing it is our sale and your loss. We will tell you.
- You get the price up front. Before the work starts, not after it is finished.
- Safety is not an upsell. Carbon monoxide testing and combustion checks on gas equipment are part of the job, not an add-on line item.

This is old housing stock, mostly.
Inside the Beltway, a lot of what we service was built between 1920 and 1975. Takoma Park Victorians with radiator heat and wiring that predates central air. Silver Spring and White Oak brick ramblers and split-levels with original trunk-and-branch ductwork that was undersized before the first addition went on. Hyattsville and Brentwood frame houses. Greenbelt's 1937 co-op homes, which were not built for central air at all and have rules about what you can hang on the outside of them.
Then there is the other half: Bethesda teardown rebuilds and Potomac houses running three and four zones off equipment that was never set up to coordinate. Downtown Silver Spring high-rise condos where the mechanical closet is the size of a coat closet. College Park and Adelphi rental property where a landlord needs it working today and priced honestly.

What we install and service.
We are a Carrier authorized dealer, and we work on every major brand that comes through: Carrier, Bryant, Trane, American Standard, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York, Weil-McLain, Burnham, Navien, Rinnai, A.O. Smith, Bradford White and others. A house does not get to choose what the last contractor put in it, so we work on what is there.
On replacements we walk through real options at real price points and explain the tradeoffs plainly: what a single stage system costs to run versus a two stage or variable capacity one, when a heat pump makes more sense than a furnace given what Pepco and Washington Gas actually charge, and when the honest answer is that the equipment you have is fine for now.
When and where we work.
Regular appointments run Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 7 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 4 PM. Emergency service is available 24 hours. Our shop is at 9737 Mount Pisgah Road in Silver Spring, and we cover fifteen communities across Montgomery and Prince George's County from there.
