How two counties turn into one service area
Our shop is on Mount Pisgah Rd in Silver Spring 20903, a few minutes inside the Beltway, and everything we cover sits within a short drive of it. That matters more than a radius on a map. The fifteen communities on this page are not a list we drew to look impressive; they are the places we are in every week, which is why the city pages can talk about specific streets, specific decades of construction and specific failure modes rather than generalities.
Montgomery County and Prince George's County are administratively separate and it shows up in the work. Permits, inspections and the offices that issue them are different in each. So is the housing: Montgomery runs from Takoma Park Victorians through postwar brick along Route 29 out to large Potomac homes with multiple systems, while Prince George's runs from Hyattsville historic district craftsman houses through College Park student rentals to the 1937 cooperative rowhomes in Greenbelt. A company that treats all of it as one generic suburb gets the diagnosis wrong.
Which utility you have decides which rebates you can claim
Residential efficiency rebates in Maryland are administered by the utility rather than by the county, so the name on your electric bill decides which program applies to you. Pepco serves most of our Montgomery County territory and a large part of Prince George's. BGE serves other parts, and that boundary does not follow town lines in any way you could guess from a map. Natural gas, where a house has it, generally comes from Washington Gas.
Both Pepco and BGE run residential rebate programs funded through EmPOWER Maryland, and we participate in both. Eligibility turns on the efficiency rating of the specific equipment installed, on the work being done by a participating contractor, and sometimes on a step that has to happen before installation rather than after. The federal Section 25C credit is not part of this any more: it ended for equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025. We will tell you which paperwork applies to your job and we will not quote you a figure the program administrator controls.
Permits and inspections are handled by the county, not the town
Replacing a furnace, boiler, air conditioner, heat pump or water heater is permitted mechanical work in both counties, and the installation is inspected afterward. The permit comes through Montgomery County or Prince George's County depending on which side of the line the house sits on, and if you own property in both, be aware that they are separate offices with separate processes.
A few incorporated cities add their own layer, and Takoma Park adds historic district review for exterior changes, which is about appearance rather than mechanical work.
We pull the permit and schedule the inspection as part of the job, stated in the written price. Two reasons that is worth insisting on with any contractor. An unpermitted equipment change surfaces at the worst possible moment, when a house is under contract and somebody asks for records.
And the inspection is a genuine second set of eyes on gas venting, electrical connections, condensate routing and clearances, which are exactly the items a homeowner cannot evaluate and exactly the items that cause trouble a year later.
The same crew, the same hours, everywhere on the list
There is no tiered service area here where the far towns get a subcontractor. Regular hours run Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 7 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 4 PM across all fifteen communities, and 24 hour emergency service covers every one of them, including weekends and holidays.

What does change from town to town is what we expect to find, which is the entire reason each city has its own page. A no-cooling call in a downtown Silver Spring condo, a College Park student rental and a Greenbelt cooperative rowhome are three different jobs with three different constraints, and knowing that before we arrive is most of the value.
