Our Guarantees: what we actually stand behind

A guarantee is only worth what happens when something goes wrong. This page sets out exactly what we commit to, what those commitments do not cover, and what to do if you need to use one. No asterisks, and nothing you have to call and ask about.

The Basics

The 100% satisfaction guarantee

If the work we did is not right, we come back and make it right, and we do not charge you a second time to correct our own error. That is the whole guarantee. It covers the workmanship and the way the job was carried out: the installation, the connections, the commissioning, the cleanup and the explanation you were given. It applies the same way to a maintenance visit, an emergency call at 2 AM and a full system installation.

What it does not do is convert a repair we advised against into a free replacement, and it does not cover a separate failure elsewhere in the house that we identified and told you about at the time. No honest company can promise that, and a guarantee that claims to is a guarantee nobody intends to honor. The value is in the part we can actually control, which is our own work.

The practical part is telling us early. A problem raised the week of the installation is a callback and it stays simple. The same problem raised two years later, after another company has been into the system, is much harder to sort out for everyone involved. Call the office, describe what the system is doing, and ask for it to be logged.

How It Works

The price you were given is the price you pay

You get the price in writing before any work begins, on every job, and it does not move afterward unless we find something that could not have been seen beforehand and you agree to it first. No line items appearing later on the invoice. No pressure attached to the options we put in front of you.

That is also why you will not find cost tables or estimates anywhere on this website. The same nominal system lands very differently depending on the tonnage a real load calculation produces, whether the duct system can carry that airflow, whether the existing line set can be reused, whether the electrical panel has capacity, and what Montgomery County or Prince George's County requires by way of permits. A number quoted without knowing those is a guess, and guesses have a way of becoming change orders.

Diagnosis comes before the repair, not after it. The technician measures, tells you what is actually wrong, explains what it takes to fix, and gives you the price before picking up a tool. If the honest answer is that a repair will hold for another few seasons, that is the answer you get.

What Matters

Workmanship warranty and manufacturer warranty are two different things

Our own workmanship warranty is stated on your invoice rather than implied. It is written down, it has a term, and you keep a copy. If something we installed fails within that period because of how it was installed, correcting it is our cost.

The manufacturer warranty on the equipment itself is separate and belongs to the maker, not to us. The terms are theirs. Two conditions catch homeowners out more than any others. The first is registration: most manufacturers, Carrier included, require the equipment to be registered online within a set window after installation to earn the full parts term instead of a shorter default. We register the equipment we install and keep the documentation on file. The second is maintenance: nearly every parts warranty is written with a documented annual maintenance requirement, which is why a compressor or heat exchanger claim years later can be denied when nobody can produce records. A service agreement builds that history without you having to remember.

When a claim needs to be filed, we file it. You should not be handed a phone number and left to argue with a manufacturer about a part we put in.

In Practice

Permits, inspection and licensing

Replacing a furnace, boiler, air conditioner, heat pump or water heater is permitted mechanical work in both Montgomery County and Prince George's County, and the installation is inspected afterward. We pull the permit and we schedule the inspection. That inspection is a second set of eyes on gas venting, electrical connections, condensate routing and clearances, which are exactly the items a homeowner cannot evaluate and exactly the items that cause trouble a year later.

An unpermitted equipment change tends to surface at the worst possible moment, when a house is under contract and someone asks for records. Ask any contractor whether the permit is included in the price and who is scheduling the inspection, and get the answer before you sign. Home Comfort Air Services holds Maryland HVACR license MD70918, and you can verify it yourself.

Worth Knowing

How to use any of this

Call the office and describe what is happening. Keep your invoice, because it carries the model and serial numbers and the date, and those three things settle most questions immediately. If it is an emergency, say so: emergency service runs 24 hours, including weekends and holidays.

Home Comfort Air Services has been family owned since Yosef started the company in 2014. We are NATE certified, an ACCA member, a Carrier authorized dealer, and BBB accredited with an A+ rating. Integrity and honesty are the values the company was built on, and those words only mean anything at the moment something has gone wrong.

In Short

The short version.

  1. 100% satisfaction guarantee: if our work is not right, we come back and correct it at no additional charge.
  2. The written price comes before the work, and it does not move without your agreement.
  3. Workmanship warranty is stated on your invoice, with a term you can read.
  4. We register equipment with the manufacturer and file warranty claims on your behalf.
  5. Permits pulled and inspections scheduled by us, in both counties.
  6. Raise a problem early. A callback in the first week is simple to resolve.
Questions
Asked and answered

Questions we get about this.

What does the 100% satisfaction guarantee actually cover?

Our workmanship and the way the job was carried out. If what we did is not right, we come back and correct it, and we do not bill you again for our own error. It does not cover a separate failure elsewhere in the house that we identified and advised you about, and it is not a promise that a repair we recommended against will later be replaced free.

How long do I have to raise a problem?

Sooner is always better, and the workmanship term printed on your invoice is the formal answer. Practically, a problem raised in the first days after the work is a straightforward callback. Once time has passed and other work has been done on the system by somebody else, separating causes gets difficult for everyone. Call the office as soon as something seems wrong and ask for it to be logged with the date.

Can the price change after you start?

Only if we find something that could not have been seen beforehand, and only with your agreement first. A rusted-through condensate pan behind an air handler or a flue that turns out to be undersized for the appliance attached to it are the kinds of things that surface once panels come off. You get told, you get the revised price, and you decide. Nothing appears on the invoice that you have not already approved.

Do I need to do anything to keep my manufacturer warranty valid?

Two things, and we handle the first. Registration has to happen within a set window after installation to earn the full parts term, and we register the equipment we install. The second is documented annual maintenance, which nearly every parts warranty requires. Keep the visits happening and keep the records, either through a service agreement with us or through whoever services the equipment.

Who files the warranty claim if a part fails?

We do. You call the office, we diagnose the failure, and if the part is covered we submit the claim to the manufacturer ourselves. Have your invoice available, since the model and serial numbers and the installation date are what the claim is built on. Labor to perform the replacement is governed separately by our own terms rather than by the manufacturer.

Is the permit included, or is that extra?

It is part of the job on work that requires one, and it is stated in your written price rather than added afterward. We pull it and we schedule the inspection. If a contractor is vague about who is pulling the permit on a furnace, boiler, heat pump, air conditioner or water heater replacement in either county, treat that as the answer.
