Common questions.
My 1938 colonial in Battery Park cannot cool the second floor. Will new equipment fix it?
Only if the duct changes with it. If the second floor supply runs cannot carry enough air, a larger outdoor unit does not change what arrives at those bedrooms. We measure airflow and static pressure first, then quote the duct work alongside the equipment. In some of these houses a ductless head is the more practical answer.
Should I replace both systems in my rebuilt Bethesda house at once?
Not automatically. If both were installed at the same time and are the same age, replacing together saves a mobilization and keeps the equipment matched, but if one serves a lighter load it may have years left. We look at each system separately, check how the existing zoning is set up, and give you the case for doing one now and one later.
