My basement takes water sometimes. Where should a replacement boiler go?
Higher than the old one, if there is any way to do it. We look at raising the appliance on a housekeeping pad, relocating it to a drier corner, and keeping controls and electrical connections above any historical water line. Sealed combustion equipment vented through a side wall also removes the dependence on a damp chimney. None of that is free, but a boiler that survives the next storm costs less.
