How the appointment runs.
A Brentwood repair visit starts with figuring out where everything actually is, because in these houses the answer is rarely obvious. The condenser may be in a side yard reachable only through a gate, the air handler may be in a partial basement with low headroom or a closet with a panel that barely opens, and the duct may run somewhere nobody has looked at in twenty years.
We test the outdoor unit electrically and check clearance and coil condition, then work inside on filter, static pressure, coil and the drain path. Where a condensate pump is doing the work because there is no gravity drain, we test the pump and the discharge line rather than assuming. Common questions.
My condenser is right against the fence. Is that causing problems?
It can be. An outdoor unit rejects heat by pulling air across the coil and pushing it out the top, so it needs side clearance and open space above. Boxed in on a narrow Brentwood side yard, it recirculates its own hot air, head pressure climbs, and the compressor works harder than it should. Sometimes clearing vegetation and stored items is enough. Sometimes the unit needs to move.
My house has radiators and no ducts. Can you fix my cooling anyway?
Yes. In houses with original boiler heat, cooling is often handled by window units rather than a central system. The boiler itself we repair, replace and install. If you are considering central air conditioning or a heat pump instead, we can look at what the house and the electrical panel will support, since older service here is often the limiting factor.
The upstairs never gets cool even though the AC seems fine. What now?
Check the attic before the equipment. Bungalow attics here are often barely insulated, so the second floor picks up heat all day and the system cannot win.
